In typical launch title fashion, Atlus was most certainly rushing this one out the gate, and for that reason is making use of an already solid design, changing only what needs to be changed for the Wii version. The adventure is in no way a port when looking at the DS graphical presentation in regards to the Wii version, but the gameplay, story, characters, and missions are still in tact from the original game.

Trauma Center: Second Opinion, is what developers like to call (and we hate hearing the name already), a "Wii-make". Before we kick into the gameplay specifics, it's important to let a disclaimer fly right off the bat. One thing is for certain though people were having a blast with Trauma Center: Second Opinion.

What's the reason? Who the heck really knows. We had a chance to take both of these games for a spin today here in New York City, and we're very happy to report that while both games definitely have their place on the Nintendo Wii, Trauma Center is looking to be an awesome sleeper hit on the system, and practically a shoe-in for a launch title purchase for each of our team members. Two of the most obvious games, Big Brain Academy and Trauma Center, are nearly exactly the same gameplay as on DS, simply done on a more grandioso scale with freehand control. The systems both use a unique interface, each allowing gamers to not just interact with their systems from the outside, but to actually touch and feel the adventure through a more immersive input device.įor that reason, it's really no surprise that we're starting to see an up-spurt of DS games making their way over to the Wii system.

Both systems embrace the blue ocean strategy, working as a disruptor (in this situation, using gameplay and price) to set itself apart from the competition, disintegrating the need for direct competition with its competitors. When looking at the two systems, there seems to be every reason in the word to compare Nintendo's newest console, the Wii, with what has arguably been the most successful move in the company's history with the Nintendo DS handheld.
